Health And Beauty Lawrence body : director of studies at the mistiyan Academy for natural therapies Carmen Rubio “There’s nothing more relaxing than the sound of the waves” The ideal way to spend a day for many would be sipping cocktails beside the sea in the midday sun. If you throw in the possibility of someone giving you a massage, that idea becomes heaven on earth, and this just happens to be Mistiyan’s selling point. How did the idea come about of giving massages out in the open air by the sea? I manage an academy that specialises in giving courses on natural therapies, and the idea occurred to us that this could lead to a professional career for students who were interested in the subject. The fact that water is never too far away came about by chance because we started out just trying to get more clients on our books during the summer period, and set up a massage point at a water park, where we saw that lot of people came to relax and cool down when it was hot. At present we have seven massage points on beaches and at hotel swimming pools. What are the benefits of having a massage outdoors? There are many; during these hot summer days, the breeze helps to cool people down. The benefits of the sun are also well known, and add that to the sound of water, and there really isn’t anything more relaxing. At our massage points on the beach there’s the added advantage of the benefits of the sea. Do people seem embarrassed having a massage in a public place? Some do, yes, especially to start with. I think being touched in front of other people embarrasses them a little bit, but they soon realise that others are not staring at them as they might initially think. How do clients generally feel about masseurs treating them in such scenic surroundings? I imagine that they feel on top of the world! We look after them very well. People pay for a massage for another person as a gift and some take photographs. MÁS INFORMACIÓN: Aromabod |
